ごあいさつ
土日会創立は1976年、日本大学芸術学部美術科江古田アトリエにおいて野口弥太郎、吉岡憲、山本正、斉藤長三、麻生三郎、中谷貞彦、糸園和三郎諸先生に学んだ卒業生有志が「情熱と自由かっ達」を合い言葉にセントラル美術館にて第1回展を旗揚げしました。
会を創立するに当たり、諸先生方とりわけ糸園先生の物心両面にわたる援助と熱意がなければ「土日会」は恐らく誕生できなかったと考えられます。
「土日会」の命名、文字の揮毫は糸園先生によるものです。「土日会」とは「大地に根ざし、大空にはばたけ」「大地と天空のはざまで画業に励め」など解釈されていますが、先生に尋ねてもニコニコほほ笑まれているだけでした。
「土日会」の意味について「答えは一つではない。それぞれ一人一人の考えや、答えがあっていいのだ…」と言いたかったのではないでしょうか。
2007年、セントラル美術館から国立新美術館に展覧会場を移し「土日会」は日本大学芸術学部卒業生という枠から脱し、公募団体として新たに歩み始めました。新しい会員も増え、若いエネルギーも加わりました。同時に、「土日会」の明日への展望と発展、その真価が問われている重大な時期でもあります。
私たちは創立時の原点を礎として、自己研さんを繰り返し、さらなる発展をしたいと考えております。多くの方々にご高覧いただき、ご批評いただければ幸いです。そして皆様方の更なるご支援を賜り、「土日会」がますます発展できるよう努力して参ります。

“Donichi-Kai” was founded in 1976. A group of graduates of the Nihon University College of Art, Department of Fine Arts, Ecoda Atelier, who studied under Professors Yataro Noguchi, Ken Yoshioka, Sei Yamamoto, Chozo Saito, Saburo Aso, Sadahiko Nakatani, and Wasaburo Itozono, launched the first exhibition at the Central Museum of Art under the slogan “passion and free-spiritedness”.
Without the material and moral support and enthusiasm of various teachers, especially Professor Itozono, “Donichi-Kai” would probably not have been born.
The naming of “Donichi-Kai” and the writing of the characters were done by Professor Itozono.
“Donichi-Kai” is interpreted as “Rooted in the earth, flapping in the sky” or “Strive to paint between the earth and the sky” but when we asked the teacher about it, he just smiled.
Regarding the meaning of “Donichi-Kai” we think he wanted to say, “There is no one answer.
Each one of us can have our own ideas and answers…”
In 2007, the exhibition moved from the Central Museum of Art to the National Art Center, Tokyo, and “Donichi-Kai” broke away from its framework as a graduate of Nihon University College of Art and began a new chapter as an open call organization.
New members and young energy have joined us. At the same time, this is a critical time for “Donichi-Kai” as its true value is being questioned, as well as its prospects and development for tomorrow.
With our founding principles as a foundation, we are determined to continue our self-improvement and make further progress. We hope that many people will view and critique our work. And with your further support, we will strive for the further development of “Donichi-Kai”
